To celebrate St David’s Day, the CAFOD group from St Helen’s parish in Caerphilly held a Welsh tea. The group sold home-made cakes including Bara Brith, Tiesen lap and Aberffraw cakes to over 80 people from the parish.

As well as this, the CAFOD group made some ‘lush finger sarnies’ and sold flower arrangements as well. In total the group raised a huge £623 to send out to their Connect 2 parish in Sebeya, Ethiopia. Once they emptied the extra collection boxes they had collected another £189 meaning that in total the St Helen’s parish raised £812 for the parish of Sebeya.

Berenice Williams, member of the CAFOD group, said: “For years we have been supporting projects in Ethiopia so Connect 2 allows us to find out more about where our money is going.”
