Hustings with a global focus

CAFOD South Wales is teaming up with other charities here in Wales, all with a global outlook, to put our local candidates to the test!

Working alongside WCIA (Welsh Centre for International Affairs) and UNA (United Nations Association Wales), we will be looking for supporters to come along to hear from six candidates battling for Welsh seats at our internationally focused Hustings chaired by barrister and broadcaster, Gwion Lewis.

You can take advantage of the event and ask questions in advance or on the night about climate change, environment, international development, aid, migration and more.

CAFOD, along with CSAN (Caritas Social Action) have produced a guide for local hustings, which we hope you can refer to. Read our previous post Ask an election question to read our guide, watch our reflection and to look at resources to help you prepare for the event.

For the hustings we welcome the following candidates:

Stephen Doughty, Labour candidate for Cardiff South and Penarth

Richard Hopkin, Conservative candidate for Cardiff Central

Ian Johnson, Plaid Cymru candidate for Vale of Glamorgan

Pippa Bartolotti, Green Party Candidate for Newport West

Martyn Ford, UKIP Candidate for Swansea West

Liberal Democrat Candidate TBC

We hope to see you at the Temple of Peace at 6pm on Wednesday 15 April. If you would like to send any questions in advance of the meeting please tweet to @WCIA_Wales or

And please remember to book your place at
