Elouise showing the Love for Welsh Weather

We are getting ready to share the love on valentine’s day. Can you join us, to help make sure we protect the world we love from climate change?

On a cold but bright Tuesday morning, Elouise, our Media officer, took advantage of the beautiful rainbow that arched over Cardiff castle.

We are asking all our supporters to do the same – take a photo with a green heart and post it online. Is this something you can do to share what you love this Valentine’s day?

It is simple, all you have to do is make it, wear it and share it. You can even ‘Use our guide and get people talking about climate change

The ‘Show the love’ campaign has seen members of the public and public figures show their love for the environment, raise awareness around climate change and most importantly – do something fun.

Kieran O’Brien from CAFOD Wales said:

“Our faith calls us to care for the world’s poorest people who are the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. We know from our own work, and also through the message shared with us by Pope Francis, that we need to radically rethink the way we treat God’s earth. Switching to renewable energy here in the UK is a concrete way of tackling climate change.”

The ‘Show the lovgreenheartspack_preview2.jpge’ initiative is being run by The Climate Coalition, a group of more than 100 organisations ranging from charities such as CAFOD to groups such as the Women’s Institute. Everyone can get involved through making your own hearts, wearing it on Valentine’s Day and sharing pictures on social media.

Famous designers including Wayne Hemmingway and Maria Grachvogel will be making hearts for celebrities such as Dame Kelly Holmes and Jessie J to wear, while the National Trust will be holding art installations in their properties across England and Wales, including a giant heart sand sculpture on a build in Cumbria built by local people affected by flooding.

You can also watch a short film called I wish for you… starring Jeremy Irons and Maxine Peake, which tells the story of a poignant letter written by a grandfather to his granddaughter about the earth he loves and the life he wants to protect for her.
