St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Ross-on-Wye has a new head teacher, Mrs Hayley Francis. Mrs Francis kindly welcomed CAFOD into school during Advent to talk about refugees and migrants and to make their own “pilgrimage” in school.

The children looked at the top ten countries of the world where refugees are escaping from.st-josephs-ross-with-map-and-tw

And explored the terms “migrant” and “refugee”  and why we all need to

“treat others the way you want to be treated.” Matthew 7.12

They also had the opportunity to learn about and hold the Lampedusa Cross.

“Together we wrote messages of hope to refugees. This was a powerful opportunity for our children to understand the plight of other people and their circumstances. “
