lent_thumb_larget Get ready for our Lent 2017 appeal by joining in the way that suits you best. This year we are going to do something a little bit different to previous years, by giving you a range of options on getting updated on our Lent appeal, and how best to support it in your parish.

It is really important to get together and not only hear about CAFOD’s work in Zambia, but also about how we can work better in our parishes to support these important appeals. Listening to your feedback, not everyone can make the evening or afternoon briefings, so we want to offer you a range of ways to find out more about our Lent appeal.

  1. Get inspired – come along to our talk by Sr Yvonne on Monday 13 February.
  2. Join one of our ‘Cup of tea’ meetings with CAFOD in your area.
  3. Join us via Skype and chat online with other volunteers in the South Wales and Herefordshire area.

Get inspired.

We are delighted to welcome Sr Yvonne to the UK, who will share the story behind our Lenten appeal. This promises to be a great talk and a chance for you to understand the story behind the Lent appeal – please do come along if you are able to. Full details are here.

Chat over a cuppa

Rather than holding formal talks, like we have in previous years, this year we want to hold as many ‘cup of tea’ meetings with you. These are simply opportunities for a small group in a local area to meet together and chat over a cuppa about how things are going. The dates and locations of these are not yet established, as we will hold these based on your availability. We will be in contact with you to work out best times and dates, but for now we will work to a loose timetable of:

  • Cardiff – 13 February (Sr Yvonne’s talk)
  • Newport Wed 15 February
  • Swansea – Thurs 16 February – St David’s Priory Church – at 5 p.m.
  • Hereford – Mon 20 February – Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs at 7 p.m.
  • Ross/Monmouth – Mon 20 February – St Mary’s, Monmouth after 9.15 Mass
  • Llanelli – Wed 22 February – Our Lady, Queen of Peace – after 10 a.m. Mass

We will be in touch shortly about exact times and locations – all depending on your availability. Meetings will last about 1hr max.

Let’s go digital!

OK, let’s have a go at embracing the digital age by offering a chance for you to catch up with us via a volunteer Skype meeting. This will be a chance for those who are unable to travel to a meeting, but would benefit from talking to other volunteers about what they are doing in their parishes. We are offering a lunchtime talk where you can ‘tune in’ and listen to a short presentation on our Lent appeal, and ask any questions that you may have.

This will take place as a lunchtime talk on Tuesday 14 February – 1:00pm. Please sign up below if you would like to join us.

We will make these as flexible as we can to suit your needs. We’re here for you, and want to support you as much as we can in the amazing work you do.

Please contact us if you want to find out more.
