CAFOD in the summer term in schools

David Brinn (trainer) Sue, Chris, John (Cardiff volunteers) and  Jane, Sue and Sarah (Menevia volunteers)

Our team of education volunteers across Cardiff and Menevia had a joint day of working on Monday 15 May when they met together in the Cardiff volunteer centre.

The purpose of the refresher training was to bring together all our wonderful volunteers – experienced and newly-recruited, to explore the resources which we are using in schools during the Summer term and beyond.

A Rough Guide to CAFOD is useful for explaining British values by teaching Gospel values and is a great way to highlight that all CAFOD’s work is inspired by Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching and by the experiences and hopes of people who are disadvantaged and living in poverty.

More detail can be found in Just One World – our vision, mission and values.

We explored the latest Power to Be resource and learned all about how renewable energy can transform lives in developing countries.

If you are a teacher please look at our free primary resources or one of our experienced volunteers would be delighted to visit your school for an assembly or workshop.  Get in touch today. Or call the Cardiff volunteer centre on 02920 344 882.

We are always looking for volunteers to add to our team.  Could you help and get directly involved in helping to bring poverty to an end?

Our  Education Volunteers play a vital part in teaching children and young people about issues of global justice.  Our next refresher is on Monday 4 September in the Cardiff volunteer centre – if you want to meet the team.

The next training course is scheduled to take place in London at our Head office – CAFOD Romero House 55 Westminster Bridge Road London SE1 7JB.

This is a two day training course:
Day 1 is on Tuesday, 17 October 2017and Day 2 is on Thursday 21 November.

Both days from 10.30 til 4 pm (coffee from 10 a.m.)

Full training provided.  Reasonable travel expenses paid – we encourage volunteers to book tickets early to get the best possible prices in line with our values of good stewardship.

If you think this could be just the volunteering role for you, we’d love to hear from you.
