Watch the recording and read some of the inspiring messages to G7 summit leaders.
|A huge thank you to everyone who helped with our preparations for the G7 interfaith event we livestreamed from Truro Cathedral on Thursday. More than 1,000 people signed up to join us and the comments from the YouTube stream and from the number of people who wrote messages in our ‘Dear G7’ card suggest that the event was well received. |

Here is one of messages to the G7 summit:
Dear G7 Leaders
Welcome to Cornwall.
The power is in your hands to set an example to all nations of the world and focus on the greater good for all, not just the few. Please use your power wisely to:
• provide universal access to vaccines – so that poorer nations can benefit from the vaccines too;
• cancel debt – so that the poorest nations can focus on providing healthcare during this pandemic;
• take serious and urgent action to tackle climate change – keeping global temperatures below 1.5 degrees C.
You have a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference to the world, improve the lives of those who suffer most and are less fortunate than ourselves and to allow this beautiful planet of ours to thrive. The time is now – seize this day.
Thank you, Carol, Falmouth, Cornwall
Thanks to so many of your for support in registering for tonight’s event from Truro Cathedral. We’re a few short of having 1,000 people signed up from CAFOD alone and will hopefully have many more joining from the other organisations we’ve been organising the event with.
We’re hoping at the end of the event to direct viewers to a Kudoboard for them to write their own brief message to the G7 leaders, which we’ll then tweet to the G7 leaders’ handles around 9pm.
It would be great to get lots of messages, so please take two minutes to write your own. A reminder that we’re calling for:
- Universal access to vaccines
- Debt cancellation
- Climate action/keeping 1.5 alive
