We need 23 more people….

23 more people to take our Rishi Sunak campaign action to get to 2000!

It will be delivered to the Treasury next week. Can you add your name?

What is CAFOD asking? Well… a major block to the UK taking the necessary action on climate this year is the money needed, so we are putting pressure on the Chancellor Rishi Sunak to provide the necessary finance.

Here’s the full story:

The clock is ticking ahead of the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow.

The summit will be one of the most important meetings this century. But for COP26 to be a success, we urgently need Chancellor Rishi Sunak to put the money on the table to enable climate action both at home and abroad.

Pope Francis has called the race to halt the climate crisis “the greatest leadership opportunity of all” – and the UK government, as COP host, must be a credible leader in this race.

That means the Chancellor must provide the financial support needed to get the UK on track to meet its commitments to rapidly cut its emissions and keep global temperature rises below the catastrophic 1.5C limit.

It also means the Chancellor must lead other rich countries to act on their commitment to provide financial support for people worldwide who are already losing homes, livelihoods and loved ones because of the climate crisis.

And it means he must honour the government’s legal obligation to spend 0.7 per cent of national income on overseas aid.
