Lent 2014

dig_deep_head

For Lent this year we are asking all of our supporters to Dig Deep: into ourselves, our faith, our relationship with God and the people around us.

Our faith helps to centre and ground us amid the pressures of everyday life: it roots us in Christ. Through fasting, prayer and reflection we can nurture those roots.

To help you prepare for Lent we have pulled together a short reflection for your use. Click on the video link below to view this.th_dig_deep_video

RESOURCES

We have already sent out the parish Lent packs to all priests and parish contacts in the dioceses of Cardiff and Menevia. Most of the materials in these packs can be found on our main website here – cafod.org.uk/fastday.

You can download copies of the Welsh language posters here:

CAFOD Lent poster in Welsh – here.

CAFOD Lent thank you poster in Welsh – here.

If you would like a colour printed copy of these posters for your parish, please contact the CAFOD office in Cardiff who will be able to send these out to you.

Supporters’ meeting

Our Supporters’ Meeting will be held on the 18 February at 7:30pm, at The Cornerstone (opposite St David’s Cathedral), Charles Street, Cardiff, CF10 2SF. Please let us know if you are able to come to the meeting.

Please click here for a poster.

The meeting will be a chance for a quick refresher on what is coming up, look through some of the stories behind the Lent materials and look at ways of supporting CAFOD throughout Lent in our parishes and communities.

And if you are unable to make this meeting we will be holding another evening meeting at Our Lady and St Michael’s Parish Hall at 7:30 on the 20th February. Please contact the CAFOD office if you wish to attend.

Menevia Diocese fundraising update

Under guidelines issued by +Bishop Tom Burns, we are still unable to hold any second collections for CAFOD during Lent. As this severely affects our work during Lent we will not be holding a diocesan wide meeting. Parish packs have been sent out to all priests and volunteers, but the collection envelopes have not gone out. If you would like any further information on this please do contact us.
